Circular from the Monastery of Santa María da Armenteira

Starting from the monastery of Santa María da Armenteira, located in the village of Meis, hike through forests of eucalyptus, chestnut and pine trees. The paths are well marked. No major difficulties.

An hour after setting off, there is a beautiful view of the valley and the sea in the distance.

The signposting and the walk are worth the effort.
The entire section between points 2 and 3 follows a logging track that has recently been re-graded by bulldozers, so it’s of no interest and the sandy, uneven ground makes it difficult to walk on.
So we went straight from No. 3 to No. 4, heading down the signposted path that follows the stream: this was by far the most pleasant part of the walk.

The start and finish are at the monastery: there’s a sort of small village with one or two tourist restaurants/bars which aren’t half bad… but we were there to go hiking!
