Saint-Denis-les-Rebais circular via Chauffry

The hike starts from the car park of the church in Saint-Denis-les-Rebais, next to the bus stop.

(S/E) Go down the road on the left that leads to the cemetery. When you reach the cemetery, take the path on the left and turn right, staying on the path. Leave the path on the right just after to follow the Bois des Fontaines. Cross the Raboireau stream and then turn left.

(1) 200 metres after the stream, take the tarmac road on the left and pass through the hamlet of Les Pottées. Stay on this road, Rue du Val, and continue straight ahead.

(2) When you reach the hamlet of Les Limons, pass Rue du Chicoire on your left and immediately afterwards turn left downhill at the disused wash house. Cross the D61. The road turns into a grassy path, which is Chemin du Plessier.

(3) Halfway up, follow the tarmac road on the right to enter the hamlet of Le Plessier, then leave the hamlet via the path located in the bend opposite. At the end of the path, take another path on the left and cross the Raboireau stream to reach the D66, which you follow to the left.

(4) After about 160 metres, turn onto the path on your left and then immediately right onto a slightly uphill path that leads to an old farm. Follow the path to the left of the farm and turn right onto the path behind the farm buildings.

(5) Cross the next crossroads, continue straight ahead, cross the road and continue opposite along the grassy path until you reach the D55.

(6) Take the D55 on the left for about 20 metres and take the path on the right, then the next one on the right. This path runs a good distance from the Réveillon stream. When you reach the D55, continue along the path opposite towards the hamlet of La Vanne.
You will come out onto the D66. Follow it to the left for about 50 metres.

(7) Take the D55 on the right. Cross the Grand-Morin river and the disused railway line. Go up Avenue du Grand-Morin, Place de la Mairie and continue on Avenue du Mizande. Continue on this road and cross the Piétrée stream.

(8) 50 metres after the Piétrée stream, turn right onto the path and cross the disused railway line again. Leave the path on the left and cross the bridge over the Grand-Morin river to reach the D66.

(9) Turn left onto the D66 for about 200 metres (caution advised).

(10) Take the Chemin de la Vacherie on the right until you reach the crossroads you passed on the way there.

(5) Continue straight ahead for over a kilometre.

(11) At the end of the road, turn left, then right at the end of the road to reach the hamlet of La Brosse. Cross the hamlet on the tarmac road and follow it to the end, then turn right onto another tarmac road to reach the hamlet of Le Ménillot. Ignore the first road on the right.

(12) On leaving Le Ménillot, continue right along the tarmac road, which turns into a grassy path branching off to the left.

(13) Follow the path until you reach the calvary, where you take the path on the right.

(14) At the end, turn left onto a grassy path which turns into a paved road at the entrance to the village of Saint-Denis-les-Rebais. Arrive at the church and return to the starting point of the walk (S/E).

There are no water sources along the route, so bring your own supplies.
Many paths are muddy in wet weather or rutted. The risk of accidents means that hiking boots are essential.
There are no shelters along the route except for a few bus shelters in the villages and at the start of the hike.

At the start of the hike, the church of Saint-Denis-les-Rebais is worth a visit.
During the hike, you will find a disused wash house and churches in Saint-Siméon and Chauffry.
The walk along the banks of the Grand-Morin is well worth it and the little hamlet of "la Brosse" is adorable.
