Park 2km after Montgesoye, on the D133 towards Durnes, in the field on the right, opposite the private property. Yellow and blue markings. Part of the route is unmarked.
(S/E) Walk down the small strip of pasture towards the edge of the woods to find the path that leads to the viewpoint. A hundred metres further on, look for the signpost indicating the path to the right that runs along the ledges with beautiful views of the valley. Leave the Thuyère viewpoint via the path on the left (facing the valley) that extends the barrier.
(1) Leaving the ledges, turn right and descend along a pretty sunken path lined with mossy stones. At the fork marked by signs, a hundred metres further down, go up the path on the left. A little further on, at the next fork, leave the ledges and go up to the far left. At the new fork (Montgesoye sign), continue left along the stony path to the D133, which you will descend on the left.
(2) At the Belvédère de la Thuyère sign, to avoid the tarmac, you can descend the path on the left for a few steps and then follow the edge of the road on the right. Pass in front of the (S/E) and continue downhill along a short stretch of country road. Quickly leave the forest path and signpost on your left and descend to the hairpin bend (towards Pont de Beuque).
(3) Go straight ahead on the stony path going uphill. You will cross a small tufa stream. Continue uphill on this clearly marked stony path.
(4) Once you reach the top, after a short flat section, turn right at the fork marked by a signpost and immediately turn right again at the crossroads.
(5) At the top, at a crossroads in an open space, begin the descent along the stony path opposite (third path from the right). At the fork a little further down, continue the descent towards the Cornebouche valley on the right. Between the trees, there are beautiful views of the corniches. At the hairpin bend, continue downhill to the left along this beautiful stony path and ignore the first path going uphill on the left.
(6) Take the next path ascending to the left, abandoning the descent at the signpost (Ruisseau de Cornebouche, route n°7). When the path reaches a plateau, leave a path on your left and continue straight ahead, still overlooking the valley.
(7) After a while, you will come across a path descending from the left. Continue straight ahead. You will soon reach a stony path which you will follow up to the left.
(8) Quickly spot a small path on the right that leads you to the barriers of the Verdotte viewpoint on the downstream side of the valley, topped by the Roche Lahier. Take the path on the left to rejoin the trail and stay on it until it makes a hairpin turn to the right.
(9) The hairpin bend goes around a small recess and its stream (usually dry), flanked by two paths. Leave the gravel path and descend via the second beautiful forest path on the right that runs alongside the stream. Halfway down the slope, on the left, there are some beautiful cornices. At the bottom of the valley, you will find the gravel path again and turn right. After a long walk through the forest, it is pleasant to walk along the bottom of this sunny valley.
(10) Cross the departmental road (D133) and, if the gate is open, climb the hill opposite via the footpath. Otherwise, descend to the right for about two hundred metres, then climb back up to the left via the stony path. Go through the metal gate (and close it behind you) to enter the pasture. Leave the hiking trail that branches off to the right towards Montgesoye and continue straight ahead, climbing through the woods to the departmental road. Finally, climb up to the right to your vehicle (S/E).
The route includes cliff-edge paths and unsecured viewpoints. The paths are rocky and slippery in places. Sturdy footwear is essential and walking sticks are recommended.
