Description of the walk

Paarl is a small town, so it's easy to get to the starting point (S/E).
The path starts right at the top of the road; there is only one entrance, so you can't miss it. You will climb a few hundred metres before reaching the main dirt road.

Then continue along this road, which is the only path, until you reach the granite boulders known as Paarl's Rock (1)

This route ends at the first boulder, but there are two others 500 metres further along the path: Bretagne Rock and Gordon's Rock.

Waypoints

  1. S/E : mi 0 - alt. 449 ft - Town of Paarl
  2. 1 : mi 2.63 - alt. 1,788 ft - Granite rocks
  3. S/E : mi 5.25 - alt. 449 ft

Notes

The hike is easy and does not require any special equipment.

Worth a visit

A little further on, there are two other rocks on the same path, visible from our arrival point (1).

If you're still feeling energetic, you can also access a path that goes around Lake Nantesdam.
To do this, pass between the two granite blocks (Bretagne and Godon's Rock).
There is access through the forest via some fairly new footbridges.
This will take you to a beautiful path that goes around the lake and then back to the main road.
