Description of the walk

Access: At the traffic circle at the entrance to Bénodet, follow the signs for the harbour "port" (not "centre-ville"). At the signpost, follow the direction to the marina. Marina car park.

GR®34 signposting: White and Red''

(S/E) From the parking lot, head south past the harbourmaster's office. Continue along the pontoons lining the quay (view of the bridge "Pont de Cornouaille").

Reach the landing stage (Cruise ships on the Odet) and continue along the ledge "Corniche de l'Estuaire", which runs alongside the Odet. On the other bank, the small port of Sainte-Marine (can be reached by ferry). Look out for the 39-metre-high Bénodet lighthouse, also known as the "feu de la Pyramide" (the Pyramid fire) on the left.

(1) Reach the tip "Pointe du Coq" with its small lighthouse and walk around the children's playground. Continue along the passageway between the bathing cabins and the beach. At a square facing the beach, turn slightly left to take the path over the beach until you reach the end.

(2) Continue along the ledge "Corniche de la Mer" which, when you reach the tip "Pointe Saint-Gilles", take left to go around a private property.

(3) At the signpost, choose the right-hand option along the shore. Descend to the beach, then climb back up. Return to the orientation table (150m) for a view of the entire coast. Continue along the ledge "Corniche de Groasguen" to the eponymous point, where the view extends over the tombolo de Mousterlin.

(4) Go down to the beach and continue to the left along property walls and then a campsite for about 400m (the part where walking is less easy). At the end of the campsite, at the "GR® high tide alternative" sign, leave the seafront on the left and follow the Chemin de Kerhos, which bends to the right and comes to a T-junction.

Without marking

(5) Let the GR® go off to the right, turn left and follow this road, bordered by a campsite on the right. At the bend (road signs), take the opposit road "Chemin de Kernilis", which leads to a street. Follow it to the left between two campsite entrances, reaching a traffic roundabout after the residential block "Résidence Judikael" on the right. Continue along the right-hand sidewalk of the ledge "Corniche de la Mer".

(6) Just before the casino, turn right at the sign for "Camping le Trez", which you leave at the next roundabout.

Turn left into the road "Rue de Kersalé", which runs behind the residential block "Résidence du Trez". Follow this uphill one-way street, which continues into the road "Chemin de Kersalé". Pass a large medical establishment on your left and reach a T-junction.

(7) Turn left and follow this street. You can see the water tower. At the next roundabout, where the Tourist Office is located, turn right to go downhill towards the large traffic circle at the entrance to Bénodet. Go around it to the left to join a path that starts out in a green area.

GR®34 Marking: White and Red

(8) Follow this path as it skirts the "Anse de Penfoul" for about 700m before reaching the marina car park (S/E).
