Bellanaleck Loughshore

This short route on the outskirts of Bellanaleck Village offers fantastic views of Lough Erne and offers an array of biodiversity throughout the year. The walk also bounds Bellanaleck Quarry (ASSI) which as recently been developed as a community sensory garden.

Description of the walk

Start : Car park on the left of Waterhen Lane.

(S/E) Start at the designated car park on Waterhen Lane. Pass through the gate to follow the path along the back of the houses to the right of the car park.

The path continues past the community sensory garden and open fields to follow the shoreline of Upper Lough Erne down to the Moorings Marina.

(1) Past the Marina, the path cuts back left (West) out towards the main road (Derrylin Road A 509).

(2) When you reach the main road, turn left to take a wide footpath that runs alongside a busy main road, to lead you back to the car park on Waterhen Lane after 1.3 Km. (S/E)

Notes

Start : Car park on the left of Waterhen Lane.

Driving to the start : Head out on the Sligo Road out of Enniskillen. At the round about take the first exit towards Bellanaleck (A509). Approximately 3 mile on that road, the entrance to Waterhen Lane will be on your left handside, just after the 30 mph speed zone. The car park for the walk is on the left of Waterhen Lane.

Facilities : Public toilets are on the route. Play park for children.
