This walk isn’t difficult, but it can be a bit tricky for children at times. There are lovely views of the sea, ranging from the ruins (just a few stones, mind you!) of an old Portuguese fort to another set of ruins around a bay. There are some lovely geological strata to see along the route.

A very pleasant walk around the crater, entering through the fortress, then a breathtaking view of the town of Angra, view of the crater, highest point, picnic area, tour of the crater, and finally a tour of the historic houses. Very varied and pleasant, one section (9) is quite steep but can be avoided.
