Description of the walk

Start from the Château d’Aguilar car park.

(S/E) With your back to the castle car park, follow the tarmac road downwards and continue until you reach a small path leading down to the left.

(1) Leave the tarmac road and take the small path on the left (marked ‘360°’). At the hairpin bend in the road, take the stony path on the left. Continue south-west, cross the bottom of the valley and carry on with the vineyards on your right until you reach a junction with a road.

(2) At the road, turn left and head uphill for 500 m until you reach a four-way junction (with two paths leading in opposite directions) at Bergerie Neuve.

(3) Leave the tarmac road by following the dirt track on the left. Follow this track and admire the castle overlooking the Tuchan-Paziols valley. Keep left at the junctions and head for the car park (S/E).

As mentioned in the title, you really do walk around the entire castle. The route is easy to follow and offers beautiful views as it winds through the vineyards.

A very interesting walk; you can see the castle from every angle.
To start with, you head down into the valley along the GR.
The access road is very dangerous if you meet another vehicle. It would be better to set off from the valley and walk uphill rather than the other way round, but you’ll need to find somewhere to park.
