Around Serain

Park on the Grand Place, at the foot of the church in Serain.

(S/E) With your back to Rue Paul Doumer, take Rue du Wé. Then turn left into the small lane. At the intersection with Rue des Clabauds, turn right, then left onto Rue d'en Bas.

(1) At the intersection with Rue du Commandant Cappelier, turn right, then immediately right again onto Chemin des Folies. Follow this road to the end, crossing Grande and Petite Folie, then turn left at the next junction.

(2) At the junction with Chemin de la Sablonnière, turn right without taking the side roads. When you reach the British cemetery, leave the main road and turn left onto Chemin des Hayes. At the three-way junction, turn right onto Rue des Coqs.

(3) When you reach Rue Helmann, turn left, then immediately right onto Rue du Commandant Lasseron. At the junction with Rue Gabriel Hanoteaux, turn left. At the end of this street, pass the town hall on your left, then turn right onto Rue de l'Industrie.

(4) At the junction with Rue de Ponchaux, turn left and follow this road to Ponchaux.

(5) In the hamlet of Ponchaux, turn right, then left at the junction with Rue de l'Industrie.

(6) At the junction with the D932, at a place called Genève, cross the road and take the path opposite. Ignore the side roads and continue to the junction with the D282.

(7) Continue straight ahead on Chemin de Montbrehain, ignoring the two roads that branch off to the left.

(8) At the junction with Rue Vaux le Prêtre, ignore the road on the right and follow Chemin de la Vallée du Bois. Ignore any side paths on the right and keep left until you reach the D932.

(9) On the D932, turn right, cross the bridge, then take the road on the left.

(10) Follow this path towards Serain. At the next fork, turn right and do not take the path on the right leading to the wind turbine.

(11) At the crossroads, turn right onto Chemin Ensinet and continue to Serain.

(12) Do not take the road on the left, but turn left onto Rue Borne Millot. At the intersection with Rue du Commandant Cappelier, turn right. Finally, at the intersection with Rue de la Liberté, turn left to reach the Grand Place car park. (S/E)

The route is easy but not signposted. The terrain is earth, grass, stones and tarmac. Wear suitable footwear.
