  5. 5 : km 4.11 - alt. 563 m - OPTIONAL SHORTCUT ADT Eastbound - Turning right on Northeast 20 Road, and continuing straight (east) for 9.9 miles, to Northeast 110 Ave - saves 7.63mi. This detour bypasses Cheyenne Bottoms and drops you 2.5 miles north of Ellinwood.
  6. 6 : km 10.59 - alt. 554 m - Turn right onto Northeast 60 Road. CHEYENNE BOTTOMS CAMPGROUND on right in .2mi. Free campsite - no restrooms. Camping is permitted only in this primitive campground. Office and Refuge 1/2 mile east.

It was placed in 1950 by the Knights of Columbus to honor Spanish missionary, Fray Juan de Padilla, who traveled with explorer Coronado to the area in 1541 and was killed by Indians in 1542.
