Description

Start the plot by indicating the starting point. If you know the exact car parking situation, please explain how to park.
If we can access the starting point with public transports, please explain the lines to use and share any useful informations.

(S) From here, describe the instructions to follow from the starting point.

Add waypoints by clicking on the map.

The plot has to end by the location where the walk finishes. If it is a loop please write (S/E) at the end of the description. If it is a one way route write (E).

Waypoints

  1. S : km 0 - alt. 49 m
  2. 1 : km 0.05 - alt. 47 m - High Street – upper end.
  3. 2 : km 0.09 - alt. 46 m
  4. 3 : km 0.12 - alt. 45 m - Near `Red Lion` pub. Proposed new covered cycle-parking – 6 stands in the vicinity of this pub.
  5. 4 : km 0.39 - alt. 42 m - Church Street. Cycle stands proposed in vicinity of Parish Church.
  6. 5 : km 0.56 - alt. 45 m - Near Pepperpot. Originally a row of cycle stands, only one now remains at this location, the remainder demolished by cars backing into them.
  7. 6 : km 0.62 - alt. 45 m - High Street – outside Boots the Chemist. 5 stands (probably accommodate 7 bikes) – useful and well used.
  8. 7 : km 0.73 - alt. 44 m - High Street – outside Robert Carder shoe shop. Suspect one stand missing (demolished by car) compared with original provision.
  9. 8 : km 0.76 - alt. 44 m - High Street near Great George Street. Protective barrier suggested to prevent cars from backing into remaining stands.
  10. 9 : km 0.84 - alt. 43 m - Outside Wetherspoons pub in Crown Court
  11. 10 : km 0.9 - alt. 42 m - Outside Wilfrid Noyce Centre. Parking – uncovered – for about 8 bikes (5 stands) by Centre. Original Crown Court cycle parking was especially appreciated for being covered.
  12. 11 : km 0.92 - alt. 42 m - Crown Court car-park . Possible location for new cycle facility by electricity sub-station. This particular suggestion involves relocating one parking space currently designated for disabled people. Wherever the new cycle parking is located in the Crown Court area what is important is that it be covered and is convenient for both town centre and the proposed `Greenway` link.
  13. 12 : km 1.02 - alt. 44 m - High Street – opposite Robert Dyas store. One additional stand suggested after litter bin, appropriately sited within confine of existing black railings.
  14. 13 : km 1.14 - alt. 46 m - Queen Street car-park. Provision needed – possible location shown here.
  15. 14 : km 1.23 - alt. 44 m - Queen Street – lower end. 6 stands, well positioned in their alignment on the slope.
  16. 15 : km 1.29 - alt. 42 m - High Street – eastern end. 4 stands at end of High Street nearest Bridge Street.
  17. 16 : km 1.4 - alt. 39 m - By Bridge Street. Consider providing 1 or 2 extra cycle stands.
  18. 17 : km 1.41 - alt. 39 m - Outside Waitrose supermarket. Now 4 stands (previously 6), with the advantage of being undercover.
  19. 18 : km 1.47 - alt. 38 m - Bridge Street – lower end.
  20. 19 : km 1.56 - alt. 37 m - Outside library. 4 stands on concrete base.
  21. 20 : km 1.71 - alt. 38 m - Outside Waverley Council`s Godalming offices. These stands on grass are additional to the main covered facility here.
  22. E : km 1.74 - alt. 38 m - Outside Waverley Council offices. 5 stands. This is the main cycle parking outside these offices – probably the only undercover cycle parking in Godalming on public land.
