Waypoints

  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 140 m - Start at Houns Tout Car Park, Kingston. Head out of the car park and back towards the village, passing the church on your right hand side - Start
  2. 2 : km 0.25 - alt. 124 m - Turn sharp right onto South Street and continue all the way along uphill past a forest on your right, crossing a stile to follow the path towards Houns Tout THEN keep left
  3. 3 : km 2.37 - alt. 62 m - As you near the end of the tarmac path, turn right to take the grassy path signposted 'Coast Path'
  4. 4 : km 2.75 - alt. 67 m - Cross a still and take in the views down towards Chapman's Pool and St. Aldhelms Head before turning right and climbing up Houns Tout
  5. 5 : km 3.16 - alt. 150 m - Keep left on the South West Coast path where the paths meet and a large stone bench has been thoughtfully placed for a rest and to admire the view. Continue all the way along the Coast Path for 3 miles until you reach Kimmeridge Bay
  6. 6 : km 8.25 - alt. 15 m - Follow the bay around passing between the car park overlooking the sea and the bay itself.
  7. 7 : km 8.67 - alt. 11 m - As you approach a row of terraced cottages turn right to follow the short road up to a T-Junction
  8. 8 : km 8.76 - alt. 14 m - When you reach the road, turn left and follow the road for a short distance ignoring the first finger-post indicating a footpath leading across a field to the right.
  9. 9 : km 8.88 - alt. 12 m - Behind the terraced cottages, turn right through a field gate and follow the right hand side of the field, with a small stream to your right
  10. 10 : km 9.11 - alt. 17 m - Keep right as you enter a second field
  11. 11 : km 9.28 - alt. 21 m - Continue straight following the right hand edge of the field until you reach a gate leading to a bridge over the small stream. Walk over the bridge, across a smaller field and a stile at the end leading to a road just beyond
  12. 12 : km 9.83 - alt. 39 m - Turn left onto the road and walk uphill past a restaurant and the Kimmeridge Fossil Museum
  13. 13 : km 10.1 - alt. 53 m - At the top continue straight through a gate, past a small church and uphill through a field
  14. 14 : km 10.35 - alt. 99 m - Cross the stile at the top of the field and head uphill on the road immediately ahead for roughly 200 metres.
  15. 15 : km 10.46 - alt. 107 m - Turn right onto the wide stoney path and follow along the ridgeline towards the viewpoint at Swyre Head
  16. 16 : km 12.64 - alt. 201 m - On reaching Swyre Head turn left and follow the wide grassy path back towards Kingston
  17. 17 : km 12.78 - alt. 194 m - Cross the stile and continue across the field beyond until you reach a pair of kissing gates
  18. 18 : km 13.88 - alt. 142 m - Turn right onto West Street and follow this road all the way back to Houns Tout Car Park
  19. S/E : km 15.03 - alt. 140 m
