  3. 3 : km 4.37 - alt. 144 m - Beginning of first long climb up to Cartaway Heads, passing Snods Edge. - Climb
  4. 4 : km 7.58 - alt. 265 m - Cartaway Head, A68 'dogleg' crossing. Ride Leader signals for Ride Manager to manage crossing - WAIT for LARGE gap in A68 traffic. Ride Leader to take group through junction on to B6278 and stop on left after to ensure all riders safely through before proceeding on. - Junction ahead
  5. 5 : km 7.69 - alt. 261 m - Waiting area to allow whole group to re form after crossing A68. - temporary stop
  6. 6 : km 9.51 - alt. 190 m - Narrow bridge, single lane. Caution, vehicles in middle of road. - Caution
