Waypoints

  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 169 m
  2. 1 : km 2.47 - alt. 169 m - Eagle Nest Island Trail - There's an eagle's nest on the water side of the trail here, and then East Nest Island Trail takes off to the left here. We opted to go straight here and loop that way, but you could also go left here and loop the other way.
  3. 2 : km 7.55 - alt. 169 m - I-65 Bridge - The trail goes under the I-65 bridge that goes over the Tennessee River here.
  4. 3 : km 9.29 - alt. 170 m - Roughly 1/2 way - At this point the trail curves away from the Tennessee. This is about the halfway point of the hike.
  5. 4 : km 11.13 - alt. 169 m - Unmarked Eagle Nest Island Trail - We think this is still Eagle Nest Island Trail over here, but it is not marked. It's an obvious large gravel road off to the left, with a gate into the refuge visible straight ahead. If you get to the gate, you've gone too far.
  6. 5 : km 12.1 - alt. 169 m - Second I-65 Bridge - The trail goes under I-65 again, this time at a lower bridge that was over a field. It could be that this area is sometimes flooded but it was a corn field when we walked through.
  7. S/E : km 19.23 - alt. 168 m
