Description

Start : National Trust of Scotland Glenfinnan Monument Visitor centre. PH37 4LT

(S/E) With your back from the visitor centre, go straight across the car park. When you have the cafe on your right hand, turn left towards a bigger car park. When you get to this second car park, keep right to reach the "Footpath to viaduct" arch/signpost. Now walk straight on a wide gravel path "Glenfinnan Viaduct Trail" towards the viaduct.

(1) Cross the River Finnan using the wooden bridge. At the end of the bridge, turn right with the river on your right-hand side. Follow the riverside following the main track as it curves left.

(2) When your reach a junction with a road, you can take a detour here following the road right, then turn right again when you see a bridge across the river. It will give you a perspective from under the viaduct. Otherwise, carry straight on.

(3) At the y junction keep right and keep straight up the hill on the main path under the viaduct. Go through the wooden gate straight up the hill. Carry on up the steps on the main path to reach the main viewpoint. (A) From there you have a view above the viaduct. When you finished enjoying the view, walk back down the same footpath.

Go across the wooden gate under the viaduct, back to the junction with the road at waypoint(2). Cross straight over the road to walk back to the riverside and then to the car park. (S/E)
