Description

(S) Cross the road opposite the car park onto Saltburn Road and follow this along the seafront. Follow the road around the bend past The Ship. Next to the bus stop you will see a sign for the bridleway and footpath, take the steps to the top of the grassy bank.

(1) At the top of the bank is a stone marking the Heritage Coast. The path here is grassy and not well defined, follow the top of the cliff. You will pass through a gap in a fence near the coastguard cottages. There is a National Trust sign here.

(2) Continue to walk along the top of the cliffs until you reach the information board for the Huntcliffe Signal Station. The path will then turn southeastwards.

(3) When the path reaches the railway line it splits into 2, take the lefthand path to look at the artworks. This will link back up to the main path which runs parallel to the railway line for a while. Once you have reached the artwork known as the Charm Bracelet, the path will continue moving away from the railway line. You will then pass a stile on your right, continue walking along the cliff tops.

(4) You will pass some connecting paths to your right, however, continue straight on eventually bearing left and down some steps towards the Skinningrove beach. This is marked with a Cleveland Way sign. There is also an information board here. Continue down the steps then turn right and walk across the dunes towards the remains of the pier.

(5) Walk between the pillars of the old pier and follow the paved road to the Rebus Boat Sculpture and car park (E).
