Description

Start: Small (only space for 2 cars) before Roan Wood Cottage, Seascale (CA20 1EU) Grid ref. NY 144 055

(S/E) If parked before Roan Wood Cottage, take left on the main road to find a small path on your left going up across field. If parked after Roan Wood Cottage, take right on the main road to cross the Greendale Gill, continue straight until seeing a path on your right going up.

(1) Continue on this path going up North-East following Greendale Gill. __Be careful the path is not really visible.

(2) After around 1.1 Km, __the path will slightly turn left around Tongues Gills to arrive at the summit of Buckbarrow after 700 m or so.

(3) From Buckbarrow, go left (North-West) across field to go in the direction of Buck Stone and Cat Bields. This path is wide and very visible.

(4) At Cat Bields, take right (North-East) in the direction of Seatallan. Continue on this large path up to the summit and cairn (around 1.7 Km).

(5) From the summit of Seatallan, go right (East) to go down in the direction of Middle Fell, seeing Greendale Tarn on your right. The descent between Seatallan and Middle Fell is very steep. Continue on this path until arriving at the top of Middle Fell summit.

(6) From Middle Fell summit, continue straight to go down (South) then (South-West) until reaching the main concrete road after 1.9 Km or so. Then go left or right depending where you parked. (S/E)

  6. 5 : km 4.93 - alt. 682 m - Seatallan summit
  7. 6 : km 6.88 - alt. 569 m - Middle Fell summit
  8. S/E : km 8.97 - alt. 80 m - Car park (after the cottage)
