Description of the walk

Park just before the village of Afionas.

(S/E) Head towards the village’s main square by following the main road.

(1) Turn right onto the first pedestrian street.
After going round the village, you’ll reach the first viewpoint (after the last restaurant in the village).
Carry on to reach a path leading up the hill: follow the main track.

(2) Turn right to begin the descent (which is quite steep).

(3) You’ll reach a small isthmus separating the two beaches.
Head back up to the previous junction.

(2) Carry on, turning right to return via a different path (and enjoy the view over Agios Georgios Bay). Reach the first junction in the village.

A superb walk taken in the late afternoon, so mostly in the shade. The views are magnificent.
The descent is a bit of a challenge given the very rocky state of the path, but you’re rewarded when you reach the bottom with a choice of two beaches on either side of the isthmus!

A superb hike from Porto Timoni, the route is circular, which I highly recommend. Be aware that it is very busy in summer, so it is best to go early in the morning. From the pay car park (€5), you will need to walk up the road for a few hundred metres to reach the start of the hiking route. Make sure you wear suitable footwear and bring water, your swimsuit and sun cream. The path is quite narrow, very stony and even rocky. The descent to the two magnificent coves is quite long (1 hour 45 minutes). Be sure to make a detour to the panoramic viewpoint, as the view from above of the two back-to-back beaches is simply exceptional and not to be missed. This option is a round trip that is really worth it. Then return to the route to descend to the beaches, where you will be rewarded by diving into the turquoise water.

A magnificent route with incredible views. On the way there, with our heads in the clouds on the Corfu Trail, we didn’t see much, but on the way back via the Corfu Path, we avoided retracing our steps. On the way back, we passed through olive groves with a breathtaking view of Corfu Bay.
