It's recommended to start and end this walk at Worcester cathedral, as described below.
You can actually start at any point along the walk. Another good place to start would be from Worcester bridge, where you can do the walk in the opposite direction, starting by following the Monarch’s Way through the Worcester Swan Sanctuary until you get to Diglis bridge where you cross over and turn left to follow the Severn Way back.
(S/E) From the entrance to the cathedral, which is on the side closest to the river, turn left and follow the Severn Way along the river heading south.
(1) At Diglis Oil Basin, there is a small footbridge that you should cross over, taking you onto Diglis Dock Road. Alternatively, you could follow the path around Diglis Oil Basin as you will still end up on the same road. Continue to follow the path (straight past Diglis Island) until you get to a bridge.
(2) Cross the bridge on your right, taking you onto the Monarch’s Way.
(3) Turn right and follow the Monarch’s Way along the river (past Diglis weir) all the way to Worcester bridge.
(4) Turn right to cross the Worcester Bridge and turn right again, taking you back onto the Severn Way, which you can then follow back to the cathedral.
