Visit Sainte-Énimie

Park in the large Gravière parking lot on the banks of the Tarn.

(S/E) With your back to the river, turn left up the street on the west side of the parking lot and come to a crossroads just a few metres away. Cross the road, then turn left onto the Route de Mende to take the calade that leads down to the banks of the Burle. Follow the path, take the footbridge, walk around the spring pond and pass under the Passage de Burle (under the town hall, information panel, video). Climb the stairs on the left to reach Route de Mende, turn right then cross to go to the church.

(1) Pass to the left of the church and turn left, in a hairpin, to climb the calade (cobbled alley), then the stairs under the vault. Arrive at the Place du Plô. Turn left to reach Place de l'Ancienne Abbaye (remains of the abbey converted into a college). Go back to the Place du Plô, continue straight ahead.

(2) At the end of the square, turn right into Rue du Serre. Immediately afterwards, turn right into Rue de la Privadenche. Go back then continue along Rue du Serre to reach a small square where the Halle au Blé is located. Turn right into Place au Beurre, then right again into Place du Presbytère. Turn left onto Rue de la Volte.

(3) At the T-intersection, turn left into Rue Basse, then left again under an archway to reach the Place aux Oules (tools). Get back in Rue Basse, turn left into Rue de la Combe and walk as far as Maison Déromieux.

(4) Retrace your steps, then follow the same direction to reach the parking lot Gravière on its east side. Turn left to reach the banks of the Tarn river, then go back along the Tarn to the parking area (S/E).

Very easy, no special equipment required.
