Description of the walk

Start: Park in the car park at the summit of Mont Aigoual.

Markings GR® Red and white and also yellow

(S/E) Head towards the observatory, then to the left of the building. Go back and forth to the orientation table at the top of the tower, then back onto the small road and continue to the right to reach the Aigoual Sommet marker. Continue in the same direction on the path to Menhir de Trépaloup. Reach the menhir site and the Menhir de Trépaloup signpost.

No markings

(1) Head left towards another Menhir de Trépaloup signpost (1498 m). Continue straight on, towards Source du Tarnon, on a path which soon bends left and then right. Reach the Source du Tarnon signpost and continue straight ahead on the path towards Fontaine de Trépaloup. Continue to the next intersection, at a menhir and the Fontaine de Trépaloup signpost.

Markings GR® Red and white and also yellow

(2) Turn right towards Mont Aigoual. At the Combe Rude signpost, turn left, still towards Mont Aigoual. The path, which is quite airy in places, circles the small mountain and reaches the Menhir de Trépaloup site.

Yellow markings

(1) Follow the road to the left for about 30 m to find the Menhir de Trépaloup marker (1499 m) and follow the path up to the right towards Mont Aigoual. Arrive at the climatograph terrace, continue straight on with the observatory on your right and reach the car park (S/E).

Magnificent views, and two menhirs. As for the Source du Tarnon and the Fontaine de Trépaloup, I couldn't find anything other than the eponymous markers!
