The Falls of Meseach

This hike takes you to a suspension bridge overlooking the Measach Falls, one of Scotland's most impressive waterfalls. In the narrow Corrieshalloch Gorge, the Abhainn Droma River plunges over 100 m in several drops. The highest waterfall is the Measach Falls, which is 45 m high.

Description of the walk

Parking in the car park along the A832 road: paid parking.

(S/E) Leave the car park and take the path downhill into the wooded area

(1) After about 50 metres, at the crossroads, take the path on the right that heads south-east before winding down the side of the valley.

(2) At the bottom of the descent, take the path on the right that leads to the bridge over the narrow Corrieshalloch Gorge, where the Abhainn Droma River flows.

(3) From the bridge, there is a beautiful view of the Meseach Falls and the river at the bottom of the gorge. Continue on the other side of the valley. The path soon turns left and descends gently to a viewing platform.

(4) Return by the same path to the bridge.

(3) Cross the bridge over the gorge again.

(2) Take the path on the right, which is fairly flat, to reach a second viewing platform overlooking the entire gorge.

(5) Leave the observation point and continue along the path that begins to wind its way up the side of the valley (steep climb in places). When the path reaches the top of the slope, it turns left and runs alongside the A832 road below.

(1) Turn right to return to the nearby car park (S/E).
