In Aurières, coming from the D561, park at the cemetery, on the other side of the D561, on a large traffic island (Place de la Gigeole).
No signposts
(S/E) Take the street towards the village centre and shortly afterwards pass a fountain/watering trough on your right. Continue along this street until you reach a fork in the road (the church is set back on the left).
(1) Continue along the road on the right, towards Nébouzat, until you reach a small grassy square with a drinking fountain and a sign for "Rue des Bergers". Follow the road to the right until you reach the first path on the right, at the corner of a farm building (cowshed). Follow this path.
(2) Turn onto the first path on the left. Further on, ignore a path on the left.
(3) 100 m further on, follow the bend to the left of the path, ignoring the path opposite. Continue along this straight path, ignoring a path on the left, until you reach a T-junction opposite a farm building.
(4) Take the path on the right, downhill. Further down, ignore a path on the right, another on the left just after, then another on the right, veering left to follow the D2089 (not the most pleasant part due to the noise).

(5) Ignore the tunnel under the road on the right and note theGR®® markings, which you should follow on this section. Then ignore an access road on the right and continue to follow the path that goes around an old house, ignoring a path that branches off to the right. The path climbs back up to the plateau, moving away from the D561.
(6) Ignore two grassy paths just before a bend. Further on, cross the Ruisseau de la Gigeole stream, then arrive at a road and walk a few metres to the left to find the 918 m marker.
(7) Follow the signs for Neuville by taking the dirt track immediately after (the one markedGR®®, not the grassy path). Further on, ignore a path on the left.
(8) Cross the Gorce stream on the footbridge made from old electricity poles. At the four-way crossroads, continue straight ahead, then ignore a path on the left before reaching another four-way crossroads at marker 935 m.
(9) Turn left towards the GTCA (Grande Traversée des Volcans d'Auvergne). Continue, ignoring a hairpin bend path on the left, until you reach the entrance to the hamlet of Neuville (which is not really worth a visit, but see Practical Information for a picnic break).

(10) At the Neuville signpost, leave theGR®® trail, continue straight ahead for a few metres, then turn left onto Chemin du Moulin. Ignore a path on the right, then ignore a path that descends to the left. Arrive at the Moulin moche de Neuville.
(11) Cross the Gorce and continue on the path that climbs up the other side.
(12) Once on the plateau, ignore a path on the left, then another on the right shortly after. Enter Aurières and ignore Rue de la Vialle on the right. At the T-junction, turn right, then left at the next junction. Opposite the church, turn left just after the wash house and you will find yourself back at the junction you passed at the start of the walk.
(1) Follow the street to the right to return to the car park (S/E).
