Description of the walk

The car park is at the end of Buller's Way.

(S/E) Start following the Macmillan Way, which is along the car park at the beginning and then, goes away from the beach.

(1) Look for a fence on the right-hand side and pass over it. Walk up to the hill and keep going straight after passing the gate.

(2) Look for an engraved rock on your left and turn left on the path that climbs for a few meters.

(3) Follow the path going slightly right and walk straight until you reach the Macmillan Way. There, take a sharp left and walk up to the chapel that you should already see. Take time to read the sign at the gate before passing it.

(4) From there, bypass the Chapel and go on the opposite side of the gate you passed earlier. There is not really a well-maintained path to follow so go down the way you like as long are parallel of the wall and you reach the first gate you passed. From the gate, turn right and return to the car park by using the same way you came from.

Excellent family walk with good views and interesting things to look at including St Catherine's Chapel, the lagoon behind Chesil Beach, cattle. Easy to detour into Abbotsbury for a drink and snack if required. There is a wooden playground further down the hill from the chapel which we stopped at for our youngest, with picnic tables placed around it. Our children ranged in age from 6-12 and we all enjoyed it. The walk was dog friendly too!
