Portballintrae to Dunluce Castle

This walk is from Portballintrae, going past Port Tara Holiday home through Portballintrae and along the coastal road to Dunluce Castle. You will see stunning views of the rugged North Antrim coast and the historic ruins of Dunluce castle. You can visit the Castle and there is a lovely coffee shop to stop for a break.

Description of the walk

Start : Port Tara Holiday home (BT57 8RX) Grid ref. NR 113 004 Junction B145 Ballaghmore Avenue.

(S) From Port Tara Holiday home, walk North-West and to the end of Ballaghmore road to the beautiful bay (375 m or so).

(1) Turn left and pass the Bayview hotel following the road (B145), past The Cove restaurant and along the footpath on Bayhead road.

(2) After 1.4 Km, at the end of the road turn right (West) and walk along the footpath on Dunluce Road (A2) that is part of the Causeway Coast Way.

Follow the footpath taking in the stunning views of the coast line and follow the road around the head land. You will then see the beautiful old ruins of Dunluce castle in the distance on your right. Follow the road until until you reach Ballytober Road.

(3) Veer right and wall up the road to the Dunluce Castle car park, visitors centre and coffee shop. (E)
