Description of the walk

Start : Perranuthnoe village car park,(TR20 9NE) Grid Ref: SW 5410 2919, W3W: slider.unscrew.snowballs

(S/E) Starting at the village car park, heading up and North-North-West, on the main road, turning first left (West) after 170m, continuing up bearing right and up, seeing the church ahead.

(1) At the Church, turn right, still up (North-East) following the road. After 40m, as the hill levels turn left (North-West) and follow until the road turns to a gravel track. The designated route, which is signed, goes through the farm hedge over the Granite Stile.

(2) With the track now inside farmed fields, keeping to the edge and designated path, continue on North-West. Get sights of the distant St Micheal's Mount. Follow this path straight for some 2 Km, through several farm fields, stile, and gates. With the last gate opening onto a made-up road.

(3) Turn left down the hill, South-West, along the edge of another farm field. To the bottom where this route meets up with the South West Coast Path (SWCP). Here turn left (South-East), follow for 1 Km approx. The path will leave the farm field and become a coastal path.

(4) The path then goes around properties. At this point, properties have land to the cliff edge, be mindfuld. If you see a large old anchor on the left, you will have entered their property, retrace steps and skirt around the premises, and the SWCP meets back up with the coastline edge. Following on the SWCP keeping the water on your right-hand side, return to the start. (S/E)

Practical information

Start : Perranuthnoe village car park,(TR20 9NE) Grid Ref: SW 5410 2919, W3W: slider.unscrew.snowballs

Parking : Perranuthnoe village car park,(TR20 9NE) Grid Ref: SW 5410 2919, W3W: slider.unscrew.snowballs
Parking is within the village, it is at present, an honesty box. Please pay as this helps fund the local toilet upkeep etc.

Transport : There is a Bus Service that enters the village, Ensure that the timing of your walk aligns with your return trip. Summer and Winter Services "may" be different.

Refreshments : There is a convenient Cafe on the beach for refreshments, however, again could be seasonal.

Accessibility : There are some stiles and "kissing gates" between farm fields. Some of the stones on the stiles have become really "polished" through time and use and are slippery even when dry. This route has been assigned "Easy" due to distance, however, there are stiles and gates to negotiate.

Note : This is a circular route that can be walked either way, however, walking anti-clockwise has its advantages, in that you will get the hill out of the way first and you are facing the panoramic views at height.

In the nearby area

There will be views of St Micheal's Mount
There are many places with seating along the route, to rest and enjoy the views.
Walking through farmed fields, at the time growing Potatoes, Lavender, and Cabbage. There is a fenced-off area for farm animals, none visible at the time.
You will be walking through farmland and the coastal path with cliff edges. Keep dogs under control.
