Description of the walk

Park in the Douch car park.

(S/E) Climb up to the plateau following the PR® trail called Le Sommet du Caroux, and head for the spring and the Font Salesse fountain.

(1) Turn left, leave the marked trail, and continue straight ahead to the Peyre Grosse firebreak.

(2) Take it on the left until you reach a very clear T-junction with magnificent rocks.

(3) Take the Garet track on the right, marked in yellow, and descend to reach the Baraques de Caylus.

(4) Turn left onto the track called La Vire de la Roque Rouge, located behind the easternmost hut. Now follow the blue markings. Be careful, this section is dizzying and quite technical, but the views are breathtaking. Continue to the Col de la Baume de Roucayrol.

(5) Immediately turn left at a 180° angle and continue slightly uphill on the red-marked Esquino d'Aze trail. You will then come to the Lou Très Recs trail junction.

(6) Be careful here as the start of the trail is not very visible. Take it on the left and follow the blue markings. On an almost horizontal section, cross the Combe Garirau and Albine streams before reaching the T-junction at the Peyre Grosse firebreak.

(3) Take the same route back as on the way there, turning left to return to the Douch car park (S/E).
