Start: National Trust car park. Grid ref. NY 294 063
(S/E) From the car park walk towards the pub and toilet to join the Cumbria Way. Once on the Cumbria way, turn left to follow it for a couple of meters before turn right on the path following Stickle Ghyll (North-West). Keep going up on this path (North) until reaching Stickle Tarn.
(1) Turn right to walk on the shore of Stickle Tarn. After a couple of meters, at the end of Stickle Tarn, you will see a path on the left that follows the tarn.
(2) Either turn left to use Jack's Rake to go up Pavey Ark (Be careful only use this path if you are a confident scrambler) or keep straight and then left after a couple of meters to join Pavey Ark by the large and touristic path. The section between (2) and (3) requires some good navigation skills.
(3) Once at Pavey Ark summit, walk down (West) to join the path that goes to Harrison Stickle summit (South).
(4) Descend Harrison Stickle summit by its West side and keep on this main path to Pike of Stickle.
(5) Descend Pike of Stickle by its North-West side (large path) and keep straight until reaching Stake Beck. Turn left and keep on this path to join Stake Pass.
(6) At Stake Pass, turn left (South-West) to join the Cumbria Way. Keep on the Cumbria Way until nearly the end and reaching the pub and car park (5 Km or so).
(7) At the pub, turn right to walk on the path (South) towards Great Langdale Beck. Before crossing the beck turn left to take the path following the beck (East). Keep on this path until reaching the car park. (S/E)
