Hollyburn Peak Loop

The walk starts at the ‘An Ancien Forest’ sign, situated above and to the right of the ‘Easy Rider’ chairlift departure point.

Follow the BP trail (named after Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouts), marked with orange diamonds and/or yellow triangles bearing ‘BP’ and a fleur-de-lis. At the junction, continue along the BP trail to the right and follow the orange diamonds until you reach a collapsed bridge, which can be crossed on foot in dry weather. Shortly afterwards, turn left onto the Hollyburn Peak Trail (leaving the BP trail) and pass several small lakes. From the summit, you’ll have a view of Vancouver and, with a clear view or a pair of binoculars, you’ll be able to see Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Afterwards, take the Collins ski run on the left.

Notes

Note 1: The descent from Hollyburn Peak is very difficult; if you have any doubts, turn back – in that case, the difficulty is only ‘difficult’.

Note 2: In wet weather, some sections may be slippery, even on the ascent.
