The walk takes you to the recently discovered dinosaurs' tracks, the little bay on the Channel (Dancing Ledge), and on top of the cliffs before reaching the Southern part of Swanage via the Durlston Head Castle. Enjoy the magnificent sea view and the wild South West Coast Path all along.

Description

(S) From the car park, go to Acton and turn left to keep the village on your right. At the end, turn right and follow the path towards the South until the Blacklands T junction.

(1) Turn right onto the Priest's Way. Cross a quarry. Look for a gate on your right after 200 m and reach the dinosaurs' footprints at Keates Quarry. Feel the emotion of time travelling 100 million years in the past.

(2) Go back to the Priest's Way, retrace your steps to the Blacklands T junction and continue aastward straight on for 600 m.

(3) Turn right on a nice path towards Dancing Ledge. Make sure to continue slightly on the left and down the slope in order to reach Dancing Ledge. The view on the Isle of Purbeck is grandiose. You can go down to the sea but some mild climbing may be involved.

(4) Retrace your step in order to join the South West Coast Path towards the east. Then stick to the main path (it can be narrow at times) for a long time, going through Blackers Hole, Mile Indicator Posts until you reach Anvil Point.

(5) Continue on the right of the lighthouse. Just after that, you will walk around the square Tilly Whim Caves (selling stones to the Londoners a long time ago). Go past another Mile Indicator Posts then reach the Durlston Head Castle.

(6) From there, go north towards the city of Swanage (E).
