From Abraão (T13) to the base of the Parrot's peak (pico do Papagaio)
Access to the base of the Parrot's peak (pico do Papagaio) from Abraão, rewarded by a breathtaking panoramic view of the east side of Ilha Grande and the continental coastline. The Parrot's top is 20 min further.
The difficulty is due to the path being quite steep, often covered in roots, and sometimes going over flat, slippery stone planes. Beware of snakes (observed), mosquitoes, spiders, and scorpions. At the top, the path is surrounded on both sides by cliffs.
As of April 2026, the municipality rates this hike as extreme. Access to the trail is limited to 90 people per day, to the Parrot's base to 10 people at once, and to the Parrot's top to 18 people at once. Going with a guide is mandatory from 17h to 7h (nighttime) and recommended during the day.
