Description of the walk

Access the Visitor Centre from the entrance to Bandelier National Park. Park in the car park.

(S/E) Cross the bridge over the stream. Continue for about 200 m and find a path that climbs up on your left: there is a signpost.

(1) Take this path and begin a series of tight switchbacks to reach the plateau.

(2) Turn right and follow the road along the canyon.

(3) At the intersection, turn right to descend back into the canyon. A sign indicates the direction of the Visitor Centre.

(4) Once you are back down at the bottom, do not head towards the car park but continue to the left. Walk for about 200 m to reach the Main Loop. Cross it and climb up opposite. The trail runs along the north face of the canyon, passing by the cave dwellings. Return to the car park (S/E).
