Start : The trail begins in the small National Trust car park accessed by turning right off the main A2 a few hundred metres North of Dundrum village. (Nearby postcode BT33 0SA). Car park next to the Dundrum GAC, Dundrum, Newcastle.
(S/E) Leaving the car park, turn left (South-West) and head towards Main Street (A2) in the direction of Newcastle. walk for around 700 m.
(1) Take the first right West onto the Manse Road. Continue straight up the hill.
(2) Take the first right (North) on to the Castle Hill Road. Follow this road until reaching the ruins of Dundrum Castle and car park on your right.
(3) Take the public right of way which runs to the left (North-West) of the Castle and continue straight along the path until you reach the end at the Dromara Road.
(4) Turn left (South-East) on to the Dromara Road and after around 400 m, take the first right onto Moneylane Road.
(5) Then take the first left (South-West) onto a public right of way. Follow the path along a sweeping left hand bend and further along passing a dam on the right.
(6) At the next junction with another path keep right until you reach the Main Street again.
(7) Turn right onto Main Street (A2) for a short distance and then turn left onto Keel Point.
(8) Once over the Downshire Bridge, at the next junction, take the right hand path which runs adjacent to Dundrum Inner Bay for around 1.4 Km.
(9) At the next junction, close to the main Dundrum-Newcastle Road, take a left turn and follow the boardwalk down onto Murlough Beach.
(10) Turn right (South-West) along the beach heading towards Newcastle (around 3.3 Km), passing the Slieve Donard Hotel on the right. At the first car park join the promenade to the finish at the Tourist Information Office. (S/E)
