Dun Muir summit

Description of the walk

Start: East Auchavaich Car Park, Glenlivet Estate, Sheffield, Ballindalloch (AB37 9JS). Grid ref. NJ 242 209

(S/E) From the car park, go towards the East Auchavaich farm and cross it. Continue on the path along the small Tom a Voan Wood. Pass the gate and continue straight towards the house then cross the stream.

(1) Just after crossing Ladderfood Ford, take the path that goes to the right (South-East) towards the centre of the two peaks and following the stream. The trail begins to climb on the side of the hill. Continue straight ahead to the top of the summit.

(2) Arriving at the top of The Ladder, turn right (South-South-West) towards Dun Muir. Continue straight towards Càrn Mòr. Be careful the path disappears and good navigation skills are required. There are white sticks planted in the ground that indicate the direction and you will have to follow them to reach the top of Càrn Mòr. (around 4.2 Km)

(3) Continue straight towards Càrn Liath.

(4) Before reaching it turn right towards Tom Trumper.

(5) Before reaching Tom Trumper, go down to the old village of Scalan by Clash of Scalan.

(6) Continue straight (North-East) until reaching the old village of Scalan.

(7) Go left to bypass the village (North) and continue on the main path until reaching the car park at Eskemulloch.

(8) Then take left on the concrete road and continue until the car park passing in front of the distillery. (S/E)
