Description of the walk

(S/E) Start at notice board below St. Oswalds Church in Compton Abdale. Head east and immediately follow the road round to the right heading south and uphill. Follow the road up then down for 1.8 km.

(1) Take a right hand fork bridleway heading west.
Join King's Head Lane and continue west uphill then down for 1.4 km

(2) Past the King's Head (No Longer Open) follow the road right. At the end of the lane turn right heading northeast uphill along Compton Rise. Follow the road up then down for 2.1 km.

(3) Follow the road turning east back into Compton Abdale.(S/E)

Rather than the road to Withington we took a footpath east at Casey Compton along the river and then through woods to a small Lane to the village, stopping at the Mill for lunch.
