Perigné route, closest to La Belle and La Béronne

This pleasant route will take you through several charming little villages that have retained their character. The first part of the route follows quiet, little-used roads, ideal for enjoying the peaceful landscape. The second part mainly follows dirt tracks, closer to nature.

Throughout the hike, you will regularly follow the Belle and the Béronne, two rivers that bring freshness and gentleness to the route. You will also discover some traces of the local heritage, such as mills, wash houses and other water-related structures, which bear witness to the rural history of the region.

A varied route, combining villages, nature and heritage, perfect for a rejuvenating walk.

Description of the route

Start from the Étang de Prérault car park, on the edge of the D119.

(S/E) With your back to the pond, take the road on the left towards Périgné, then turn right onto the first white road. About a hundred metres after the bridge, turn left towards Périgné andcontinue straight on until you reach the D740.

(1) Cross the road, note the wash house,then continue along Chemin de la Sergenterie, then turn left onto the small Chemin de la Boucharderie until you reach a four-way intersection.

(2) Turn left onto Route de Bessac and note the charming little wash house under a tree (ideal for a short break). Enter the village, turn right onto Route de la Taupinière,then, at the Château de la Guittoniere, take Route des Roches de la Taupinière, which climbs to the right. At the intersection, continue straight ahead onto Chemin du Bois à Martin and join the D103.

(3) Cross it and take the path on the left. At the road, follow it for a few metres to the left, then turn left. Continue straight on to Moulin de Gènebrie.

(4) Continue right to the charming little village of Mairé, keeping right at the next crossroads. Cross the bridges over the Béronne, then turn left onto Rue des Feux Fanets, and you will soon arrive at the wash house.

(5) Continue and, at the next intersection, first turn left then right and follow Rue du Pont Robert to the end. Continue straight ahead on the white path, then turn right. Continue on the tarmac road until you reach a wash house just after the bridge over the Béronne.

(6) Continue to the right, between two walls, then continue along the tarmac road (Rue du Château), then turn left onto Chemin des Fermedières, then Rue de Riplet. Cross Route de Brioux (D740) and continue straight ahead onto Chemin de Théré. Leave the village and find a path on the right.

(7) Take this path, then turn left at the next fork. As soon as you can, take the white path on your right, then turn left. Continue straight ahead until you reach the D104.

(8) Go straight ahead, then turn right onto the first white path at Haut Marquelaine and rejoin the tarmac road at a small bridge.

(9) Turn left (D103), then take the first white path on the right. Atthe next intersection, keep right and, at the second, keep left.

(10) At the road, turn left, then right again onto the white path, and you will reach the tarmac road.

(11) Take the road on the right (D119) and continue to the Étang de Prérault (S/E).

If you are travelling by car, there is parking available directly at the pond.

Along the way, you will find plenty of shade, a wash house and places to take a break.
