Start from the Canet-de-Salars town hall car park, opposite the school.
(S/E) Take the road on the left towards the dam. Continue for about 500 m until you reach a three-way junction.
(1) Leave the D176 and turn slightly to the right. At the next junction, keep left.
(2) Take the first track on the left, between two fields. Follow it until you come to a small road. Cross it and carry on straight ahead to the next crossroads.
(3) Turn left, head into the forest and continue along a path through the woodland which leads out onto Lac de la Gourde. At the 90° right-hand bend, don’t miss the footbridge hidden amongst the pine trees which leads to the observation point (leave your bikes nearby).
Follow the path which runs alongside the fishing jetties, pass the dam and you’ll come to a fairly open area.
(4) Turn right onto the wide path which leads to the small car park. Just behind it, turn left and follow the hedge marking the boundary of the Bois de Serres housing estate. Follow this path until you reach the road.
(5) Walk about a hundred metres to the right along the road, then turn back onto the track to the left. Follow it, going straight on at every junction, until you reach the D176 (be careful of traffic on this road). Turn left, walk for about 3.5 km and return to Canet-de-Salars, at the town hall car park (S/E).
