(S/E) The start of the circular route is at the car park next to the post office in Ceyzériat on the road to Jasseron
Turn left onto the D52 as you leave the car park, heading towards Jasseron.
(1) Cross a level crossing 1.2 km further on, then, at a junction, continue straight on along the D52.
(2) In the centre of Jasseron, turn right towards Oyonnax via the D936. The road climbs gently for 3.4 km and turns right at the Col de France.
(3) At the Col de France junction, take the D98 on the right towards Simandre. Ignore a road on your right, pass a junction and carry on straight ahead. The road climbs in a left-hand bend, then a right-hand bend, and soon reaches a small summit. Descend a little and, at a hairpin bend, a road branches off to the right. This is the Col de la Rousse.
(4) Leave the D98 and take the small road opposite which leads back down to Valuisant. Drive straight through the hamlet. The road curves slightly to the left then splits into two slip roads leading to the D42. Take the right-hand slip road.
(5) Turn right and follow the D42 to Villereversure Gare (level crossing). Continue on the D42 for 200 metres until you reach a three-way junction.
(6) Turn left at a right angle onto a small road leading to Grand Corent. The road climbs up Mont de Corent with short sections at 8–9 per cent over 2 km.
(7) At Grand Corent, turn right, ride through the hamlet, ignore a road on the left and turn right at the end of the hamlet. The small road runs along the Crêtes du Mont Rosset and descends slightly before splitting into two branches. Take the right-hand branch to join the D979 at the Col de la Roche
(8) Continue along the road which descends towards Bourg-en-Bresse.
(9) Turn right onto the D42a, after 1,250 metres on this descent. Once on the D42, turn right and then immediately left towards Noblens via the D42a. Continue along this road to Villereversure.
Drive through the village, following signs for Ceyzeriat. The road climbs again and, after a right-hand bend, joins the D81.
(10) Turn right towards Ramasse and Drom and follow this road to Drom.
(11) In Drom, turn left opposite the cheese dairy, pass the church and carry on straight ahead at the next junction. Then veer slightly to the right; at a fork, turn left and then right onto the Montée des Vignes. The road climbs first through woodland, then between vineyards and meadows, before emerging onto a ridge.
(12) Turn left for 50 metres, then left again onto the road leading up to Notre-Dame des Conches.
Pass in front of the chapel and near the orientation table (sign). The road descends slightly and passes through the Col du Trou du Sac
(13) Climb up to the highest point (telecoms mast) at 593m; the road descends slightly and takes a hairpin bend.
(14) At the bend, take the road branching off to the left. It descends for 1 km to the Col de la Pérouse, where the tarmac road ends.
(15) Turn round and head back up to the bend.
(14) Head down to the left towards Ceyzériat.
After a lovely 3 km descent, you’ll return to the starting point (S/E).
