Start at Houlgate station.
(S/E) Set off keeping the railway tracks on your left, then turn left and pass under the railway bridge. Follow Boulevard Jacques Landry, then turn right onto Rue du Moulin.
(1) Before the railway bridge, take the small track on the left to reach the beach. Continue left onto the D513, towards Dives-sur-Mer.
(2) At the level crossing, carry on almost straight ahead on the D513.
(3) Carry on along the D400 towards Caen, then, at the roundabout, turn left onto the D49A towards Lisieux.
(4) Carry on a little further, then turn right onto the D49, towards Brucourt.
(5) Cross the D27 with care and carry on straight ahead , then immediately turn right, still following the D49.
(6) Pass Brucourt Town Hall and carry on straight ahead on the D49.
(7) Cross the bridge over the A13 and continue along the D49.
(8) First turn right then left to cross the D675. Continue along the D49, passing the grounds of the Château de la Bribourdière on your left. Pass the Putot-en-Auge town hall and you’ll soon reach a junction (no. 844; the church is opposite on the right).
(9) Turn left and follow the pretty little narrow road (C1), taking care even though there is little traffic. Carry on straight ahead until you reach a junction with a large cross on the right.
(10) Join the D49 and follow it to the left.
(11) Carry on straight ahead and pass through the pretty village of Beuvron-en-Auge (the church is immediately on the left).
(12) Pass the Manoir de Beuvron-en-Auge on your right and continue along the D49 towards Victot-Pontfol. Pass through the hamlet of Le Lieu Tondeville.
(13) Turn left onto the D49 and go round the Manoir du Lieu Calice on the left. You’ll arrive at the foot of the Church of Saint-Denis in Victot-Pontfol, on the right-hand side of the road (Victot Castle is on the left).
(14) Continue along the D49, passing Victot Town Hall on your right, then turn right at the junction.
(15) Cross the D16 with care and continue straight ahead along Chemin des Authieux. Follow this narrow little road, pass through the hamlet of Estrées, and join the D50.
(16) Follow this road to the left for about 500 metres. Note the church of Estrées on its promontory to your left.
(17) Turn right onto Chemin de la Pâtur. At the three-way junction, turn left towards Saint-Vigor.
(18) Turn right with the road, passing the Manoir de l’Épinay on your left. Continue through several bends until you reach the cemetery at Crèvecœur-en-Auge.
(19) Turn right and enter the village via the D16. Cross the D613 (note: for those who wish, a few hundred metres further on to the right, Crèvecœur Castle is well worth a visit) and carry on straight ahead on the D16.
(20) Pass the Manoir du Lieu Livet.
(21) Shortly afterwards, pass the Church of Saint-Loup and carry on straight ahead on the D16. Cross the D101a and carry on straight ahead. Reach the junction after the bridge over the Vie.
(22) Turn left onto the D154, towards Mesnil-Mauger, and head for the village church.
(23) Just before the church, turn left onto the D269A, Route du Moulin de Carrouge, towards Grandchamp-le-Château. Cross over a railway line.
(24) At a fork in the road, turn right, staying on the D269A.
(25) Go straight on, passing Saint-André Church on your left. Continue to the D511 at Saint-Julien-le-Faucon (Saint-Julien Church on your left).
(26) Follow the road to the right, towards Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives, and pass the town hall.
(27) Immediately afterwards, turn left onto the cycle path towards Livarot.
(27) Follow it to the left, towards Livarot.
(28) Pass the beautiful Manoir de Coupesarte on your right.
(29) Shortly afterwards, pass the Church of Saint-Cyr and Sainte-Julitte on your left, cross a small road and continue along the greenway.
(30) Cross the D273 and carry on straight ahead along the greenway.
(31) Go round a roundabout on the right, follow the D579 alongside the greenway, and enter Livarot. Ride alongside the grounds of the Manoir de l’Isle.
(32) At the end of the cycle path, turn right onto the D4 (Route de Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives).
(33) After about 200 m, turn right onto the D111A (Route de Castillon). Enjoy a lovely climb along this road, ignoring the other roads on either side.
(34) Pass through the hamlet of Belle Place, and continue along the D411A to Castillon-en-Auge.
(35) At the junction, turn right onto the D111 (Route de Saint-Julien-le-Faucon), towards Mesnil-Mauger, and pass the town hall. Pass the hamlet of La Touzerie, and you’ll soon come to a junction.
(36) Turn left onto the D136 (Route du Houlbec), and further on you’ll reach a junction with the D154.
(37) Follow this road to the right (Route de la 51e Division Écossaise).
(38) Shortly afterwards, at No. 3, turn left and pass in front of Saint-Aubin Church.
(39) Cross the D511 and continue straight ahead onto the D252.
(40) Cross the D16 and continue along the D252 to Ouville-la-Bien-Tournée. At the T-junction, turn left, and you’ll soon arrive at the foot of the beautiful church and its cemetery.
(41) Turn right onto the D252 towards Percy-en-Auge, cross the River Dives and pass an old mill.
(42) Then turn right, still following the D252. You’ll pass a beautiful fortified farmhouse. Cross the railway line at the level crossing and reach the village of Percy-en-Auge.
(43) At the junction, turn right onto the Grande Rue (D138) and pass the Church of Saint-Gervais. Turn left as the road bends, passing under a high-voltage power line. Cross the bridge over the railway line and arrive at a roundabout (Church of Saint-Pierre on the right).
(44) Enter the roundabout and take the third exit, the D47 towards Caen. Follow Avenue Jean Jaurès to number 121.
(45) Turn right onto Rue Léon Blum, heading towards Château Canon. Pass the first set of junctions and, at the next roundabout, turn left onto Rue Édouard Vaillant. You will arrive opposite the château.
(46) Turn right onto the D152. Drive through the Bois de Canon, staying on the D152.
(47) At the roundabout, cross the D613 and carry on straight ahead on the D152. Enter Mery Corbon and, at the roundabout with the equestrian statues, carry on straight ahead to reach the church.
(48) Carry on straight ahead on the D152, towards Hotot-en-Auge.
(49) At a place called Anneray, cross the bridge over the Dives and drive alongside a marshy area. You’ll come to a junction at No. 881. A little further on, you’ll see the church in Hotot-en-Auge with its Renaissance bell tower.
(50) Take the small road on the left, the Chemin de la Butte, and note the beautiful view of the marshes on your left. At the next junction, turn right. Pass under a high-voltage power line and arrive at a crossroads at Lieu Dufresne.
(51) Follow the D78 to the left, passing through the hamlets of Le Désert and then La Grille.
(52) Shortly afterwards, at the locality known as Les Routes, turn right onto Chemin de l’Épinay, heading towards Céramiste. You’ll reach the charming church at Brocottes.
(53) Continue to the right onto the D80 until the next junction.
(54) Join the D49 and follow it to the left, towards Putot-en-Auge. Take in the manor houses along the road, then the pretty church as you arrive in Putot. In the hamlet, you’ll reach a junction you passed earlier on the route.
(9) Carry on straight ahead on the D49 and, following the route in the opposite direction to the outward journey, head for the entrance to Dives-sur-Mer.
(4) Head straight on, almost directly opposite, onto the cycle path that runs alongside the D49, towards Lisieux. Cross the D45 and arrive at the foot of the church in Dives-sur-Mer (open to visitors).
(55) First turn left then right, and follow Rue Paul Canta. At the roundabout, go past the market halls on your right and continue along Rue du Marché.
(56) At the roundabout (war memorial), turn right into Rue du Port. Pass the Manoir des Bossettes (Art Nouveau) on your right, and arrive at a junction you passed at the very start of the route, near a level crossing.
(2) Continue along the cycle path to the right and, following the route in the opposite direction to the outward journey, head towards Houlgate station (S/E).
