Park in the car park at the foot of the old village
(S/E) From the car park, head back to the road and turn left. A few metres further on, at the junction, turn right. Stay on this road all the way to enter the village of Rochecolombe. Walk past the town hall.
(1) Turn left straight away onto the concrete track for a steep climb. Further on, take the path opposite and continue to the right at the foot of the castle ruins.
(2) Leave the tarmac road and take the signposted path on the left. Climb slightly and walk along a balcony-like path before reaching the signpost for “Ron Chamorel”.
(3) Carry on to the left, then cross a dry riverbed before heading uphill again to reach another junction.
(4) Take the path to the left to the Belvédère des Baux, then retrace your steps.
(4) Continue along the route towards La Lauzière.
(5) Turn right and head for a track, then follow it to the left. At a hairpin bend to the left, leave the track to stay on the signposted route by taking the path opposite.
(6) At another hairpin bend to the left, this time leave the signposted route to continue along the path opposite (unmarked section).
A few hundred metres further on, turn right onto a road and stay on it, ignoring any side paths. You will reach Sauveplantade.
(7) Enter the hamlet on the right. Pass the church (a listed building) and continue along the main road.
(8) At a place called Pradet, leave the road and take the path on the left. Further on, there are a few climbs through the woodland.
(9) At a hairpin bend to the right, the slope levels out and the path, now ‘flat’, leads to a track.
(10) Take the track to the right and rejoin the Lauzière at the junction, which you passed earlier.
(5) Head back down to Rochecolombe, enjoying some lovely views of the old village and the castle ruins. Near the River Vendoule, there is a junction sign indicating “Rochecolombe 0.7”; there’s no need to follow the route as the car park is just a few metres away. Simply carry on straight ahead at the sign to complete the walk (S/E).
), had a snack on the hillside (near Le Palas) with a breathtaking view of the valley, and took in beautiful views of Rochecolombe during the final descent to the village. The difficulty level is moderate.
