  2. 1 : km 0 - alt. 223 m - Public Parking at Teatro Romano/Hernan Cortez
  3. 2 : km 0.08 - alt. 218 m - [L] out of parking lot on Calle Cabo Verde (north) toward railroad tracks.
  4. 3 : km 0.27 - alt. 215 m - After seeing the Roman Circus, exit and [L] on Avenida Juan Carlos I to return the way you came. Parque de Acueducto de San Lazaro (Roman Aqueduct) is on the right, across the avenue, before getting to the RR bridge.
  5. 4 : km 0.4 - alt. 214 m - [L] on Avenida Extremadura then quick [R] to go under the railroad bridge. Continue on Avenida Juan Carlos I to the Centro de Interpretacion del Circo Romano (Roman Circus entry).
  6. 5 : km 1.11 - alt. 229 m - Return under the RR bridge, quick [L] via Avenida Extremadura, then [R] on Calle Cabo Verde (past the parking lot on your right) to the rotunda.
  7. 6 : km 1.42 - alt. 234 m - [R] at the rotunda, take first exit on Calle Jose Romano Melida. Roman sites will be on your left. Continue to the entrance of Teatro Romano. The Roman Art Museum will also be across the street if open (closed on Mondays). [L] into the archaeological sites.
  8. 7 : km 1.53 - alt. 230 m - Leaving the Teatro Romano complex, [L] on Calle J.M. Alvarez Saez de Buruaga. Stay along the edge of the theater complex, staying left at the first fork.
  9. 8 : km 1.59 - alt. 228 m - Stay [L] at the next fork to continue on Calle J.M. Alvarez Saez de Buruaga and still bordering the theater complex.
  10. 9 : km 1.69 - alt. 226 m - [R] just before the little triangular park (Parque la Era) on Calle Pizarro. Go only a few steps to the next turn.
  11. 10 : km 1.72 - alt. 225 m - Bear [L] at the first fork on Calle Canovas Castillo. Lonja Merida restaurante on your right then a hardware store on your left.
  12. 11 : km 1.91 - alt. 231 m - Continue on Calle Canovas Castillo through 2 intersections until it dead-ends at Calle de Via Ensanche.
  13. 12 : km 2 - alt. 232 m - [L] on Calle de Via Ensanche a short distance to next interchange. [R] to cross the street to park. Los Columbarios (Roman cemetery) can be visited here.
  14. 13 : km 2.25 - alt. 231 m - [L] out of Los Columbarios along walkway lined with cypress trees, paralleling Calle de Via Ensanche. Casa del Mitreo (Roman palace remains with murals) can be visited on the left across from the bullfighting ring.
  15. 14 : km 2.41 - alt. 230 m - [R] to cross the street and walk through the Plaza de Toros (surrounding the bullfighting ring). Continue along Calle Oviedo, which also parallels the river.
  16. 15 : km 2.55 - alt. 219 m - At the rotunda, take the 3rd exit to stay straight on Calle Ovieda. Continue straight through one more 4-way intersection to the second 4-way at Calle Atarazanas (Plaza Santo Domingo across the street)
  17. 16 : km 2.93 - alt. 211 m - [L] on Calle Atarazanas toward the river. At the curve to the left (becomes C. Anas) there should be a ramp/walkway/stairs on the right down to the riverwalk and pedestrian bridge over the river.
  18. 17 : km 3.15 - alt. 204 m - After crossing on the pedestrian bridge to the island park, turn [R] on the main park path. Head toward Puente Romano (Roman bridge). There is a path/ramp up to the bridge on the left. Before taking that, pass under the bridge for photos from the other side.
  19. 18 : km 3.49 - alt. 202 m - Take the ramp up to Puente Romano, then [R] on the ancient Roman bridge to cross back into Merida old town.
  20. 19 : km 3.63 - alt. 210 m - Bear left to the rotunda, then first [R] on Calle Cava, along the border of the Alcazaba ruins.
  21. 20 : km 3.84 - alt. 220 m - [R] at the plaza on Calle Graciano to the entrance of the Alcazaba. Visit the Moorish ruins and gardens.
  22. 21 : km 3.99 - alt. 216 m - Left on Calle Graciano on exiting the Alcazaba complex, up to the plaza interchange at the corner. [R] to cross to Plaza de Espana. There is another portion (citadel/tower) of the Alcazabe at the southwest corner.
  23. 22 : km 4.1 - alt. 220 m - Angle across the Plaza de Espana or traverse perimeter, enjoying architecture, shops, bars, to the opposite corner and Casa de los Pacheco/Hotel Merida (converted palace).
  24. 23 : km 4.21 - alt. 224 m - Straight on Calle Santa Julia, passing the Torre Albarrana (Moorish tower remains) on your left. [R] when the street dead-ends to Calle Trajano.
  25. 24 : km 4.25 - alt. 225 m - [L] on Calle Trajano to the Arco de Trajano.
  26. 25 : km 4.45 - alt. 221 m - Reverse back down Calle Trajano through 3 main intersections and street name changes to Calle Romero Leal
  27. 26 : km 4.55 - alt. 225 m - [L] on Calle Romero Leal to the Temple of Diana. Visit the ruins.
  28. 27 : km 4.7 - alt. 224 m - Continue down Calle de Juan Davalos y Altamirano until it dead-ends for shopping. Near the end is Tejido Quiles (fabric), Don Papel Merida (paper), and Tu Merceria (fabric). Reverse back up the street to the Diana Temple intersection.
  29. 28 : km 4.81 - alt. 225 m - Exit temple grounds, cross C. Romero Leal and quick left to intersection, then [R] on Calle de Juan Davalos y Altamirano. Stop at Heladeria Artesana Agustin Mira (ice cream) on the SE corner for a break.
  30. 29 : km 4.92 - alt. 229 m - When you see the Diana temple to your left, cross Calle Sagasta and turn [R] to the Roman Forum ruins (on your left). Visit.
  31. 30 : km 5.26 - alt. 219 m - Bear right to stay on Calle de las Pontezuelas, then again along backside of parking area.
  32. 31 : km 5.26 - alt. 219 m - Leaving the Roman Forum, turn [L] on Calle Sagasta. Continue several blocks as it takes a slight hook and changes names to Calle Pontezuelas.
  33. 32 : km 5.6 - alt. 225 m - [L] on Calle Cabo Verde to return to parking Hernan Cortes.
  34. S/E : km 5.69 - alt. 222 m
