Start from the Old Port car park (free parking).
(S/E) Head towards the largest section of the car park. Cross Rue Quai 1er Bataillon de Choc.
(1) At the end, take the steps to the right of the brasserie, which lead up towards Rue Saint-Jean. Take this street, passing the Church of Saint-Jean (the largest church in Corsica) on your right. Turn left onto Rue Sébastiano D’Alzetto. Cross the market square and take Rue Pino.
Cross the Quai des Martyrs de la Libération and turn left into the wide pedestrian area. Continue to the end of this passage and turn left towards Place Saint-Nicolas.
(2) Turn left onto Cours Henri Pierangeli, then take the second street (pedestrianised) on the right, Rue Neuve Saint-Roch. Just before reaching Rue Napoléon, turn into the passageway on the right which runs alongside Saint-Roch Church.
Turn left onto Rue Napoléon, a pedestrianised shopping street. Continue straight on.
At the end of Rue des Terrasses, take the steps on the left leading down to the harbour.
Turn right onto the harbour, then continue round the harbour via Quai Albert Gillio until you reach the end.
Continue along the Aldilonda path, which runs between the sea and the Citadel.
(3) Just before reaching the road tunnel, turn right up the steps leading to Place Vincetti.
Cross to the right, between the square and the Citadel Park, heading towards Rue des Remparts. Enter the Citadel, opposite Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral.
Stroll through the citadel’s narrow cobbled streets, passing through Place Guasco and then Place du Donjon.
Enter the Governors’ Palace, which houses the Bastia Museum.
Return to Place du Donjon.
Take the little Rue Saint-Michel, which leads down to the right of the bar’s terrace.
(4) At this point, there are two options:
- either head down to the left through the Jardins Romieu, but in 2023 this route is closed due to major building works;
- or take the lift opposite.
Walk along the left-hand side of Quai Albert Gillio, which leads to the old harbour.
(E) Back to the car park
