(S/E) Take the stairs at the back of the car park and join the Allée du Château.
At the Info Rando map, turn left onto Chemin de la Gleyzette towards Chapelle Saint Cerice
(1) Just after the chapel, opposite a gutter in the path, climb up to the right into the rocks, then keep to the right. The path is difficult to find for the first ten metres, but after that it is very well marked. Beautiful views of the village. Continue to an old quarry.
(2) In the quarry, turn right to pass between the ruined buildings, then descend to join the old railway line, now paved as a "greenway". Turn right and cross the viaduct, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Ardèche.
(3) Before the tunnel, descend on the left to join the D579. Cross it and continue on the Lanas road. Cross a small stream and leave a small road on the right.
(4) About a hundred metres further on, in a right-hand bend, take a path that descends to the left. This path runs alongside the Ardèche and passes below a campsite. Ignore the white-and-yellow markings, many of which have disappeared.
(5) After a right-hand bend, continue straight ahead towards the hill. Take a small, barely visible path that climbs to the right and immediately joins a track. Take this track on the left, pass by the church in Lanas and continue to the main road (D114).
(6) Turn left onto this street, then take the first street on the right (Rue du Barry). At the next fork, turn right onto Chemin de Cotteraude.
Continue along this path, turn left and cross a small stream.
(7) Just before the last house, turn right onto a path marked in white and yellow that climbs up the hill. On the Rando sign, if it still exists, the direction is "Aérocity".
(8) At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead, leaving a path leading to Balazuc on your left and an abandoned trail on your right.
Continue along this old path which winds through the oak trees between two dry stone walls.
(9) When you pass a small pond, ignore the two paths on the right that lead to the road running alongside the aerodrome. Continue parallel to the road, then join it and follow it for 150 to 200 metres.
(10) At a 90° right-hand bend, leave the road and continue straight ahead along a path. The route is no longer marked. On the right-hand side of the path, you will pass some old motocross tracks. Continue towards a model aircraft field, which you will recognise by a shed topped with a windsock. Walk along the edge of this field, keeping it on your left. At the end of the field, turn right.
(11) Just after passing under the high-voltage power line, you will arrive at the access road to the aerodrome, at the top of the hill from the D104. Turn right for 100 metres, then turn left onto a path. The start of this path is not very visible because the first few metres have been incorporated into the Aérocity park. You have to pass between the metal kerb of the road and the fence. You will find the path again a few dozen metres further on. This well-marked path follows the ridge all the way.
(12) After passing a pylon, do not take the path that descends to the right. Continue to follow the ridge along a steep path that leads to the next hill and then descends, gradually turning south. After passing a ruin, you will come to a wider path.
(13) Take this path on the left. After about 250 metres, you will come to a dirt road coming from La Chapelle-sous-Aubenas. Turn left for 10 metres and then immediately right. The path on the hillside leads to Haut Serre de Vinobre
(14) From the summit, there is a panoramic view of the Aubenas plain and the mountains of the Ardèche plateau. An orientation table has been installed on the north side.
Descend via a wide south-facing path where you will find white and yellow markings.
Despite the sign indicating Vogüé, do not take the first path on the left (very steep).
(15) At the second sign pointing towards Vogüé, take the path on the left, which is also marked. Leave the path on the right.
(16) At the next junction, ignore the signs pointing straight ahead towards the hamlet of Bannes. Take the path on the right (the most visible). It is more pleasant as it stays on the plateau and offers a nice view of Vogüé at the start of the descent.
After a water reservoir, continue downhill to the old railway line (converted into a greenway). Take this path on the right.
(17) About a hundred metres before the next bridge, leave the track via a path on the right (not shown on the IGN map). Turn left and go under the bridge to join the D579. Cross this road to take the D579a towards the bridge over the Ardèche and Vogüé (S/E).
Hello, we only did the first part of the route due to lack of time. The landscapes on the heights of Vogüé are remarkable, and we lost too much time visiting the quarry, where information panels provide details about the history of this place. So we will return to this route later. Thank you for the idea for this route.
