It's easy to find taxis from the main square in Samaipata. We paid 250 bolivianos for a return trip, but if you're travelling alone in a motorcycle taxi, it will probably be cheaper.
Admission costs 15 bolivianos per person.
One kilometre from the end, there are several waterfalls where you can swim.
At the very end of the hike, in Las Cuevas, someone may ask you for 10 bolivianos per person. If there is no one there, the gates will probably be closed. Walk along the gates on the left (a small path that goes uphill), and after 20-30 metres there is a passage after the barbed wire.
The hike takes 6 hours (including breaks and swimming), is 11 km long and has an elevation gain of 600 m. No guide is necessary, but there are several slightly technical sections: wear good shoes and avoid hiking if it has rained heavily just before or if you have children with you.
