Description of the route

Start from Espace Cardellu, Rue Villa in Calvi.

Route marking no. 7

(S/E) With your back to the car park, head left and at the roundabout, turn right. Follow this road to the junction at the campsite entrance.

(1) Continue to the right, ignoring the various turn-offs to the right and left. At the roundabout, take the first exit and continue straight on until you reach a crossroad.

(2) Turn right and you’ll come to a fork opposite a property entrance with a gate. Continue to the right, then quickly take the track that continues from there. This turns left and climbs through the scrubland. You’ll reach another cross-track almost at the ridge.

(3) Continue to the right, towards Notre-Dame de la Serra, and reach it.

(4) Walk alongside the car park to rejoin the road. Take the tarmac descent, then turn right between two boulders to join a track running parallel to the road. Return to the road, follow it to the right and reach a junction.

(5) Turn left and head for the Revellatta car park a few metres further on. Leave the road and follow the track that continues from the car park. After the winding descent, you’ll reach a three-way junction.

(6) Turn left and continue straight on until you reach a ‘No Entry’ sign.

(7) Take the path opposite and head towards the lighthouse, ignoring a turn-off to the left.

(8) Once at the lighthouse, turn around and head back to the ‘No Entry’ junction.

(7) Turn left to rejoin route no. 7. Ignore a turn-off to the left and then one to the right, and head towards the cove, Plage de l'Alga.

(9) Turn left, crossing the beach, then continue straight on until you reach the tarmac.

(10) Turn right and continue straight on until you reach the Stop sign.

(11) Carry on straight ahead, going straight on, skirting Fort Charlet on the left and then the cemetery on the right. Take the long tarmac descent and arrive at a Stop sign.

(12) Turn right towards Port de Plaisance Santa Maria and continue straight ahead past the Hôtel Mariana.

(13) At the stop sign, at the corner of the stadium, turn left then immediately right. Reach the roundabout at the start and head towards Espace Cardellu a few metres further on to the right (S/E).

Notes

From (2) to (3), fairly steep climb.
Suitable for e-MTBs, but conventional mountain bikes may need a push for about 100 metres on the climb through the scrub
Terrain with fairly smooth stones at times, so no major difficulties, but still requires a certain level of confidence on a mountain bike.

Worth a visit

Notre-Dame de la Serra.
Revellata Point and Lighthouse.

Done under cloudy skies, on a weekday in September. Ideal. Don't miss climbing up to the heights (after the barrier and the cistern-like structure), as the view is magnificent.
And on the way back, take the coastal path with beaches.
It took us two hours to get there and an hour and a half to return, without rushing.
Definitely worth doing.

A very beautiful route, with little elevation gain and plenty of spots to stop and take in the views or have a swim. The Pointe de la Revellata itself is less of a highlight, but stopping at one of the little coves is the perfect way to lose yourself in daydreams...

17 May 2022. A magnificent mountain bike route, completed by my wife and myself on electric mountain bikes (we’re over 70, after all...). We set off from the Fort Charlet car park and followed the route in the direction indicated. On the way back from the headland, just after point 7, we descended to Oscellucia beach (quite a steep descent!) and returned via the coastal path (very, very rutted in places), marked in dotted purple, to point 9, then followed the marked route from Alga beach back to Fort Charlet. It’s a bit of a workout, but the beauty of the landscape makes you completely forget the fatigue. Note: The electric mountain bikes are a bit heavy and less manoeuvrable than ‘push-button’ motorised mountain bikes, but with a bit of practice you can really go anywhere, and they allowed us to climb easily up to Notre-Dame de la Serra! Thank you, because without this route guide, we would never have dared to set off!

A magnificent mountain bike route, completed by my wife and myself on electric mountain bikes (we’re both over 70, after all...). On the way back from the headland, just after point 7, we descended to Oscellucia beach (quite a descent!) and returned via the coastal path marked in dotted purple (with a few sections of footpath that were very eroded) to point 9, then followed the marked route from Alga beach back to Fort Charlet. Hello, this circular walk is very easy to do on foot. It’s hard to say how long it will take without knowing your usual walking pace, but apart from one steep hill at the start, the route is suitable for all fitness levels.

Enjoy your walk!

We’re going to explore it on foot around 20 March.
I reckon it will take us at least five and a half hours.
We’re hiking in Martinique.
Best regards
