Description of the walk

Park in the car park above the restaurant Les Bains d’Aphrodite.

(S/E) Go through the entrance signposted ‘Botanical Garden’. Head towards Les Bains d’Aphrodite.

(1) Head up to the right to follow the Aphrodite trail, signposted by an iron sign in the shape of an arrow. Turn left (iron sign) and tackle a steep climb along the well-marked trail. You’ll reach a junction of trails.

(2) Turn slightly left to join the Adonis path. Then turn right and you’ll reach an ancient Byzantine monastery.

(3) Continue straight ahead and, a little further up, turn right onto the track and climb up to the sign for Moutti tis Sotiras

(4) At this point, you can turn left to make a round trip to the summit (not shown on the map).
Continue along the Aphrodite trail. After a hairpin bend to the right followed by a circular loop to the right, you’ll reach a point directly overlooking the sea at the junction with the E4 road.

(5) Take this road and continue the descent alongside the coast to reach the car park above the restaurant Les Bains d’Aphrodite (S/E).

Notes

The path is quite steep in thefirst section. There are no water sources along the way. Return to the dusty track, where you’ll need to be careful due to the number of go-karts and other 4x4s heading to the Blue Lagoon.

Worth a visit

(S/E) Botanical Garden: home to numerous specimens of endemic plants.

(3) Stop at the abandoned monastery. A hundred-year-old oak tree is located nearby.

(4) Magnificent views of the Akamas coast as you descend from Moutti tis Sotiras.

A lovely hike in mid-April with breathtaking views and still very few people on the track used by buggies running alongside the path. A must-do.

Very good.
Stunning scenery both to the north and south.
Near the ruins and the oak tree, there’s a water source… but it’s not drinkable. If nothing else, you can always wet your hat!
Just before you reach point 5, there’s a path running alongside the road which, for 500 metres, lets you avoid being bothered by the constant flow of traffic.
Best done in the morning if it’s very hot.
