Touristic walk to Morrone summit extended to pass by Morrone Birkwood reserve.

Set in the heart of the Angus Glens within the Cairngorms National Park, a walk through Glen Doll offers the perfect balance of forest trails and breath-taking mountain scenery.

There are 11 cairns to discover within the Balmoral Estate and this short walk takes in two of them – Prince Albert’s Cairn (aka “the pyramid”!) and Princess Beatrice’s Cairn. A beautiful forestry trail awaits, and after a fairly steady walk uphill you will reach the summit of Creag an Lurachain (442 m /1450 ft) where the pyramid sits. A steeper but shorter descent follows, and a very lovely suspension bridge crossing.

This high mountain walk visits the second highest summit in Scotland - Ben Macdui. In addition the route visits some of the wild country surrounding this peak including the summit of Cairngorm. Do choose a good day to complete this walk as navigation can be difficult for inexperienced walkers.

The Pass of Killiecrankie and Faskally Forest are two of the best places in Scotland to enjoy a stunning display of autumn colours and this circular route takes you through both! Starting off with the Pass of Killiecrankie and the Soldier's Leap viewpoint, you will then head along single track roads and through the Linn of Tummel to reach Loch Faskally. On your way back you'll pass through the beautiful Faskally Forest before following the River Tummel and River Garry back to Killiecrankie.

This walk lies within the Cairngorm National Park and visits the lochs and lochans that lie between Loch Morlich and the twon of Aviemore. The route offers a number of alternatives for the return to the start and provides an excellent walk if low cloud is limiting higher level walks in the mountains.
