Start : Loch Doon Castle. Grid ref. NX 484 950.
(S/E) From Loch Doon Castle carpark, follow the trail uphill across from the carpark (North). Continue uphill pass through an old sheep pen onto a forest road.
(1) Continue the path uphill on the other side of the forest road. The path gets steeper heading up onto Wee Hill of Craigmulloch.
(2) Once you get onto the summit, the route becomes less easy to follow, keep going ahead following animal tracks to a cairn (West). You can either follow your tacks back down or continue onto Craiglee, the hill to your front left (West), a bit more challenging. From the cairn, turn left and pick a route down onto the low ground.
(3) From here you will see a trail going across to the base of Craiglee (West). This can be marshy most of the time but easily passed with care stepping to the side. From there, try and follow the path upwards, sometimes it's more a small burn than a path, but you can pick a route uphill just the same. As long as you are going uphill, you are heading in the right direction.
(4) A cairn can be found once you reach the summit, with a trig point approx. 200 metres after. The way back down is much the same, once your near the bottom you will see the tracks going across the marsh area, aim for here and follow to the base of the first hill. (3) Turn to your right (South-East) and you should see a faint trail, if not head for the left-hand corner of the forest.
(5) Once at the forest keep between it and the base of Wee Hill of Craigmulloch and you will come back onto the path you took to the summit. Turn right (South) and follow the path back to the carpark.
