Trimdon Grange to Kelloe - Way of Love

This stretch of path follows two railway paths across open farmland between the former mining villages of Trimdon Grange and Kelloe. A church can be found at each end of the walk, St Alban's in Trimdon Grange and St Helen's in Kelloe.

Description

(S) From St Alban's Church, cross the road and turn left walking along the road.

(1) After 30m turn right (west) between the buildings picking up the footpath heading into the trees. The path continues in a westerly direction exiting the trees and following the boundary of the field. It will then pass another wooded area to the right.

(2) When you reach the road, turn left (south) and walk along the road for 30m, then cross the road, cross the stile to follow the Raisby Way which heads in a southwest direction.

(3) Continue to follow the Raisby Way until you reach a track at Garmondsway Village, turn left and follow the access road south then west until you reach the A177.

(4) Turn right and walk along the road for a short distance, you will cross over the Raisby Way and Coxhoe Beck, turning right after 200m into Bradyll Street. Ensure you are behind the barrier and continue along the path which runs parallel to the road and then Coxhoe Beck.

(5) When you reach the footbridge, turn right and cross the bridge and continue following the beck (northeast) which will now be on your left.

(6) Keep left at the fork in the path along the Kelloe Way, still following Coxhoe Beck.

(7) When you reach Kelloe Front Street, cross over and continue to Morley Crescent and turn right to visit St Helen's Church. (E)

Useful Information

Transport: Find a place to park on the road near St Alban's Church. Bus 57a (Arriva) connects Kelloe and Trimdon Grange.

Facilities: There are no facilities along this route however the Davy Lamp pub is located at the end of the walk.

Accessibility: There is at least one stile and dirt paths around fields which could be muddy following rain.
