Ilfracombe From the viewpoint
Arganite Bay and Capstone Hill far away
Emmanuel Church from Jubilee Gardens
Ilfracombe far away

Description

Park your car at Jubilee Gardens car park.

(S/E) Ascend the stairs behind the theatre (kind of "cones") and go across Jubilee Gardens with nice views over Emmanuel Church.

(1) Past the garden, bear right in Granville Road. At the next fork, continue left following coastal path signs (blue signs) in the residential area until you turn right in Torrs Walk Avenue. At the end of the avenue, turn right to the South West Coast path (yellow arrow).

(2) When you reach a junction signpost, bear right "Coast Path, Torrs Walk" overlooking Arganite Bay and Capstone Point. At the fork, continue the coastal path which goes up in zig-zag along the cliff until you reach a beautiful viewpoint!

(3) From the top, you can see Ilfracombe, the cliffs on the other side and even Bull Point on clear days! Continue down the path "Coast path, Lee" for one kilometre until you join a track.

(4) Turn right on this track for 100 metres before you turn left towards the yellow arrow (second footpath) past the "Public Bridleway" signpost. Ascend straight the hill along the hedge. Look at the view when you reach the top and go up the stairs over the low wall.

(5) Go straight ahead along the hedge on your left walking three fields going through a gate, then a stile and a small "ladder" (yellow arrow). Past the ladder, go slightly right across the field, then go through the hedge and go past a property on the left. Take the driveway leading to the road in Lincombe village.

(6) Turn left walking the road for 150 metres and turn right when you see "Feather Down Farm Days" entrance. Walk between the two buildings leading to the footpath. Go through the gate and turn right immediately along the fence (yellow arrow). Go straight heading to the hedge far away. Past the edge, turn left at the right angle and continue until you join Dibbon's Lane. Cross over this road, go up the field which leads to a stile with barriers. Go straight across two other fields until you join Higher Slade Road. Bear right and follow this road for half a mile.

(7) At the junction, continue straight ahead, then cross the bridge heading to the small car park on the right before you reach the National Cycle Route 27. Turn right, pass under the bridge following this quiet concrete way. After half a mile, you pass under a second bridge before you walk along Slade Upper Reservoir. Walk through a small tunnel and continue along Slade Lower Reservoir.

(8) Go straight for one mile, you go past the Nature Reserve signpost and finally reach a road close to Pall Corporation.

(9) Descend Station Road for half a mile before you join St Brannock's Road. Bear left heading to the roundabout, then turn right in Church Street for 50 metres. At crossroads with Wilder Road, go down following this road for half a mile before you reach Jubilee Gardens Car park.(S/E)

Really beautiful coastal walk, for first half followed by a more relaxing walk by the reservoirs. Good underfoot. Would do again
